No Zika virus detected in Kuwait:Ministry of Health
Kuwait: The Ministry of Health said (MOH)
There is NO cases of mosquito borne ZIKA virus, which spread in latin america countries were registered in Kuwait.
MOH said in a statement,reiterating its ability to detect related infections.
Ministry of Health has been carrying nationwide surveillance of insects and there were no evidence that the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which carrying this virus exist in Kuwait .Dr.Majda Al-Qattan said in the statement, she said that the MoH was in contact with the Regional Office of the world Health Organization(WHO), to know about the latest developments about the virus and how to dealt with it.Qattan said to the MoH instructed all hospitals and clinics to immediately contact preventative health department and laboratories to adopt necessary preventive measures in case they discovered signs of Zika virus on any traveler, she said that the virus will not transmit among humans but through the mosquito, which this could only happen if a person travels to countries that mosquito exist.
SYMPTOMS:
- fever
- skin rash
- eye inflammation
this symptoms might extend from 2-7 days.WHO did not yet issue issue any travel warning to infected countries, however MoH advising against ZIka- hit nations unless necessary. WHO said that a rise of birth defects in Latin America was strongly suspected o being cause by Zika virus.
